DSU Women’s Team Remain Undefeated at Home This Season

In the second game of the weekend, the Dakota State women’s basketball team extended their home win streak to six this season with a 80-53 win over Dickinson State. The Trojans have now won 37 out of their last 40 home games.
In the opening minutes, both teams struggled to establish a rhythm, with the Blue Hawks getting out to the early lead at 4-1. The Trojans didn’t score their first basket until about two minutes into the game.
DSU went into halftime up 34-20, and they continued to dominate in the second half, starting the half off with a 16-2 outburst on their way to outscoring the Blue Hawks 31-17 in the quarter.
Their big third quarter allowed Dakota State to roll into the fourth quarter with a comfortable lead, helping them earn the 80-53 victory over Dickinson State.
Elsie Aslesen and Angela Slattery each scored 13 points. Aslesen also grabbed nine rebounds and registered two blocked shots, while Slattery added five rebounds, two assists, and a blocked shot.
Sidney Fick added 12 points off the bench for the Trojans. Savannah Walsdorf and Lilli Mackely each had eight points. Walsdorf stole the ball five times.
Dakota State shot 41.8 percent overall from the field (28-of-67 field goals) compared to Dickinson State 36.7 percent (22-of-60 field goals). The Trojans drained 10 3-pointers in 32 tries (31.3 percent), while the Blue Hawks hit 6-of-21 3-pointers (28.6 percent).
DSU also outscored Dickinson State 29-2 in points off turnovers and 46-24 in bench points.
The Trojans raised their overall record to 12-5 and 2-1 record in NSAA play. DSU recorded their 12th win in the last 14 games. Dickinson State dropped their fifth straight game, falling to 5-12 overall record and winless in three North Star conference games.
