Hubbard & Giles receive Player of the Week Honors

The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has announced its second installment of the women’s outdoor track & field Players-of-the-Week honor Tuesday.  Dakota State swept the weekly honors.  Traia Hubbard was selected as the Field Athlete-of-the-Week, while her teammate Jennifer Giles was chosen as the Track Athlete-of-the-Week.

Hubbard won both shot put and discus throw titles at the Grand View (Iowa) Viking Relays for the Trojans.  She also qualified for the NAIA National Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in both events.  She is currently seventh in the NAIA in shot put AND third in the NAIA discus throw. Hubbard’s shot put and discus throw are currently the second-best toss in school history. 

Giles opened her outdoor season with a fourth place finish in the 800-meter run for the Trojans.  She also anchored the 4 x 400-meter relay team that finished fourth in the race  Giles currently holds the 800-meters top time in the North Star Athletic Association.  The 4 x 400-meter relay team also currently holds the top time in the league.

Dakota State travels to Sioux Center, Iowa on Thursday for the Dordt (Iowa) Invitational.  First events are set for 1 p.m., on the campus of Dordt.
