Guse, Nielsen Break School Records in DSU’s 16-14 Victory Over Presentation

Three DSU school records were broken in the Trojans’ 16-14 win against winless Presentation College. The Trojans scored two first half touchdowns in the victory. Running back Jack Anderson scored from the one-yardline, capitalizing on a Marcus Vaden Bosch interception in the first quarter. Wide receiver Cooper McDermott caught his first touchdown of the year for the second touchdown of the game. After the potential game-winning field goal was missed by Presentation College, it clinched DSU’s first winning season since 2017, finishing at 6-4 and 5-3 in North Star contests.

Defensive Back Noah Guse grabbed his eighth pick of the season, and 19th career interception, in the third quarter, breaking the DSU single season record of seven. He also broke the school record for most interceptions in a career at Dakota State. Kicker and punter Caleb Nielsen broke the school record for all-time career punting yards average. He now has 40.2 yards per punt, breaking the previous record of 38.5 yards per punt set from 1990-93. Nielsen had eight punts for 322 yards, with six inside the 20, on Saturday.
