Groft Sisters for DSU Named to the Academic All-District Team

The College Sports Communicators (CSC) selected the 2022 Academic All-District Volleyball teams this week, and Peyton and Madalyn Groft were named to the team. The 2022 Academic All-District Volleyball Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

Both Peyton and Madalyn Groft were named to the 2022 North Star Athletic Association Women’s Volleyball All-Conference Second Team earlier this month.

DSU’s Peyton Groft was named the NSAA Champions of Character recipient for the third consecutive year, and was named to the conference’s second team All-Conference twice. She is the all-time digs leader at Dakota State, accumulating 2,394 digs during her career.

This year, she finished the season with 705 digs, which is seventh most digs in the NAIA as of Wednesday, and averaged 5.3 digs per set (ranked 30th in the nation).

Peyton is a super senior exercise science major at Dakota State University.

Madalyn Groft is a three-time NSAA All-Conference selection, being a First Team selection in 2020 and 2021. She had produced eight triple-doubles during the season for the Trojans, and  finished the 2022 season with 604 set assists (5.1 assists per set), 362 digs (3.0 digs per set), and 222 kills (1.9 kills per set).

She amassed 2,000 set assists and 888 digs since 2020 at Dakota State.

Madalyn is a junior math education major at DSU.

To be eligible for the CSC Academic nomination, each institution can nominate up to eight athletes in the sport of football and achieve at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in late December. The CSC Academic All-District teams include the student-athletes listed all over the nation.
