Five DSU Throwers Place in the Top 10 at Red Raiders Invite

In the Northwestern Red Raiders Invitational yesterday, the Dakota State men’s track and field team had five throwers place in the top ten.

Conner Tordsen, who already qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in three different events, captured the hammer throw title by tossing 196 feet, 1.25 inches on his second attempt. Jacob Joachim added a runner-up honor after throwing 167 feet, 5.5 inches on his fifth toss attempt (advanced to the final round after the first three throws).

Zachary Haugen produced a hammer throw toss of 151 feet, 2.25 inches to finish fifth for DSU. Jackson Zastera registered a personal record toss of 147 feet, 1.75 inches to place seventh, while Houston Lunde was 10th after throwing 133 feet, 8.75 inches.

Ryan Chapman made his hammer throw debut with a toss of 123 feet, 6.25 inches for Dakota State. Dylan Johansen recorded a personal best hammer throw toss of121 feet, 6.75 inches.  Jack Hemmen threw 92 feet, 1.25 inches.

DSU earned another runner-up honor in the discus throw, led by Treshawn Roberts with 155 feet, 2.75 inches. Ethan Damerum added a personal record of 136 feet, 6.75 inches to place sixth, followed by Cade Gortmaker with an eighth-place finish after throwing 128 feet, 1 inch.

Jakob Kaiser earned a career-best javelin throw of 115 feet, .75 inches for the Trojans. Xander Sheehan threw 106 feet, 6 inches. Caleb Roberts registered a javelin throw of 83 feet, 6 inches.

Treshawn Roberts cleared the height of 13 feet, 4.25 inches to collect a fifth-place finish in the pole vault.

Dakota State continues their field events action on the second day of the Red Raiders Invitational, including the shot put, discus throw, high jump, triple jump, and long jump. The first events are set for 11am.
