Extension Announced With DSU for the NAIA Championships

Earlier this week, The NAIA announced that it has come to terms with Dakota State University to extend its contract as the host of the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championship through the 2024 season.

DSU just completed its third year, out of the last four, as host of the championships at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex (SJAC) in Brookings, SD. Last season, Oklahoma City edged out Indiana Tech for the Red Banner on the men’s side, while the Warriors cruised to the women’s title with an impressive performance overall.

By the time the end of the current deal between the NAIA and DSU, it will be six straight years the championship meet is held in South Dakota. The last time the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championship was held outside of South Dakota was in 2018 (Pittsburgh, Kansas).

The SJAC also serves as the host site for the NSAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, where the Trojan men’s indoor track & field squads had won three team titles in the previous meets held at the SJAC (2019, 2020, and 2022; 2021 conference meet was held in Yankton where DSU finished second).
