Eight Total Trojans Named as NAIA Scholar-Athletes

Last week, the NAIA announced their baseball and softball 2023 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, and Dakota State had two baseball players and six softball players named to the list. 

The 2023 list features 1,131 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA at their institution. In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.

For the DSU baseball team, Mason Macaluso and Cole Westerlund were the two Trojans named to the list.

DSU’s softball team’s six athletes listed for the prestigious national academic award was the most single-season athletes in Trojan softball program history to be named on the NAIA Scholar Athlete list.

The six athletes are Carrington Entringer, Hannah Feser,  Alexus Foster, Rebecca Hazlett, Rosie Philop, and Mackenzie Sims.
