DSU Women’s Basketball opened up their season on Saturday, falling to Grand View 72-62 in Des Moines, Iowa. After an early lead, the Lady T’s found themselves trailing by one when the Vikings closed out the first quarter on a 12-2 scoring run. Down by as much as 16 points in the first half, Dakota State did pull within one (33-32) but never got over the hump and played catch-up for the rest of the game.

Elsie Aslesen had 15 points and Jessi Giles chipped in 14 points to lead the Lady T’s. Dakota State shot just 41 percent from the field, compared to 46 percent for Grand View. Now at 0-1 on the season, DSU will be back in action tomorrow, Tuesday. It will be their home opener – welcoming in eighth ranked Dordt. Tip-off will be at 5:30pm.
