DSU Volleyball Picks Up Team Academic Award

The United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Association announced Thursday that 1,333 collegiate and high school volleyball teams have earned the Marine Corps/AVCA Team Academic Award during the 2022-23 season.  This marks a record number of programs honored for their academic achievements.  The award, initiated in 1992, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

Dakota State is one of the 65 teams from the NAIA division that received the Academic Team Award.  It was the second straight year that the Trojans received the honor, and the fourth time during Amy Veenhof’s coaching era at DSU.

Dakota State officially opens their 2023 season on Aug. 19 in a triangular held in Orange City, Iowa.  The Trojans face host-team Northwestern (Iowa) and Briar Cliff (Iowa).
