DSU To Salute Retirees – Two From Athletics Department

Dakota State University will be celebrating four retirees today with a salute parade on Washington Avenue. Two of those retirees come from the Athletics Department, Dr. Judy Dittman and Carla Sudenga. 

Dr. Dittman began her career in 1978 as Women’s Basketball Coach and instructor. Her teams from 1980 to 1991 won 10 South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference titles. She spent three different stints as the Athletic Director and left athletics in 1996 to become the Dean of College of Education. Dr. Dittman garnered many accolades as a coach and was inducted into the DSU Hall of Fame in 2006

Carla Sudenga has been a senior secretary at Dakota State for 36 years, with 34 years in athletics, including the last 15. Sudenga has received the Terry Ryan Distinguished Service Award three times (2010, 2017, 2019).  This award is given to those people who go above and beyond to help DSU Athletics. In recent years, Trojan Athletic Club fans also know that Sudenga is the chef who prepared the great food at the VIP Suite for football games and the hospitality room for all volleyball and basketball games.
