After sweeping Presentation College on Friday night, the DSU Basketball teams split with Mayville State on Saturday. The Women continued their school record win streak with a 75-56 victory while the Men came up just short 74-67.

A strong second half propelled the Lady T’s to victory. Leading by one at the break, Dakota State outscored the visitors 27-13 in the third quarter and cruised from there. Morgan Koepsell, who returned from an injury this weekend, scored 21 points and Elsie Aslesen had 20 to form a solid 1-2 punch. Koepsell hit four straight from downtown in the third to fuel the Lady T’s offense. It was the 15th straight win for number 21 DSU, as they improved to 19-3 on the season and remained undefeated in NSAA play at 11-0.

In the night cap, the Men’s game was a solid performance from both sides, trading runs and buckets throughout, but Mayville State had the last word. The visiting Comets outscored the Trojans by nine in the second half to pick up the seven point win and hit twice as many three’s. Brady Van Holland finished with 15 points, Gare Ewefada had 13 and Lamarr Wood 11 to pace the DSU attack. The Trojans are now 8-12 on the season and 6-5 in conference play.

DSU Basketball will be on the road this upcoming weekend, at Dickinson State on Friday and Valley City State Saturday.
