DSU Mens and Womens 4×800 Teams Hit Top 5 Times in School History

Dakota State competed on the first day of the 113th annual running of the Drake Relays, and the Trojans had a pair of 4×800-meter relay teams, producing top five times in school history.

The Trojan women’s team of Caitlin Dyer, Lindsey Roth, Saddie Palmquist, and Madelyn Sylva clocked a time of 10 minutes, 2.92 seconds to finish seventh in the race. Their time is the fifth fastest in the DSU women’s outdoor track & field school record book. 

DSU men’s relay team of Curtis Johnson, Evan Slominski, Joshua Krull, and Cody Farland produced the NAIA ‘B’ provisional qualifying time of 7 minutes, 44.96 seconds to finish 12th in the race. Their time is the fourth fastest time in  Dakota State men’s outdoor track & field history.

In addition, the Trojan men’s 4×800-meter relay team was just .96 seconds shy of meeting the NAIA ‘A’ automatic qualifying time (7 minutes, 44 seconds). 

Dakota State continues their action on the second day of the 2023 Drake Relays. The day kicks off at 9:34am with the men’s 4×100-meter prelims with Michael Foster, Willie Hutchins, Trey Reindl, and Riley Greenhoff. Conner Tordsen is scheduled to compete in the discus throw at 1:45pm.

DSU also will have both women’s and men’s 4×400-meter relays Friday afternoon. Raylee Wallis, Shaylee DeBeer, Dyer, and Fane Sauvakacolo are scheduled to run at 3:03pm for the women’s team. At 3:26pm, the men’s 4×400-meter relay team of Reindl, Krull, Slominski, and Greenhoff are set to run for the men’s.

Dakota State wraps up Friday in the evening session with the sprint medley relay event.  DeBeer, Sauvakacolo, Wallis, and Roth will run at 6:18pm for the Trojan women’s relay team.  Greenhoff, Reindl, Steven Greigg, and Daniel Green are slated to run in the men’s side at 6:33pm.
