Playing at the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday night in an exhibition game for Dakota State, the host pulled away in the second half for a 72-51 win. It was a defensive minded first-half as the Cougars held a 25-24 lead over the Trojans at the break. USF went on a 16-2 scoring run midway through the second half to grab a 57-40 lead with nine minutes left. The Trojans were never able to pull within single digits for the rest of the contest as the Cougars shot over 60% in the second half.

Coming off of tying a school record with 19 three pointers in a win earlier last week, DSU shot just 5 of 20 from beyond the arc in the loss. Josh McGreal led DSU in scoring with 14 points, Gare Ewefada had 10 points and Brady Van Holland had nine off the bench.

DSU sits at 2-7 on the season and will be back in action this weekend, hosting a two-day tournament at the Fieldhouse. Facing off against Oak Hills, MN on Friday and Doane on Saturday. You can catch both of the Trojans games this weekend on FM103 and amazingmadison.com
