The Trojan Men’s Basketball team ran into a buzz saw on Monday night in Madison, as the Dordt Defenders missed just eight first half shots on their way to a 57-41 halftime lead and ultimately a 92-76 win. The visitors jumped out early and continually pulled away in the first 20 minutes. Dakota State did mount a rally in the second half, pulling within eight points but never able to get any closer. Four players scored 10 or more points for DSU, who shot 52 percent in the game, but the hot shooting from Dordt in the first half was too much to overcome.

The Trojans will be back in action this weekend, returning to NSAA play. Please keep in mind, Saturday’s doubleheader versus Dickinson State University will start at 4pm with the Women’s game, an hour later than originally planned. Men’s game will follow around 6.

Dakota State’s Morgan Koepsell was named the Women’s Player-Of-The-Week for her efforts versus Briar Cliff on December 30th. She scored a career-high 28 points on 12 of 13 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds. She is averaging just over 10 points a game this season to help the Lady T’s to a 10-3 record. It is the third consecutive week that a DSU player has collected its weekly conference basketball honor.
