DSU Half Marathon Runners at NAIA Track & Field Championships

Dakota State wrapped up the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on Friday with four runners participating in the half-marathon on Friday morning. Senior Jacia Chrisitansen placed 14 out of 34 runners with a time of 1:31:36 in her third appearance at the NAIA National Meet.

Taylor Ward of Life University won the half-marathon for the women, finishing the race with a time of 1:23:42.

The Trojan Men’s team had three runners in the half-marathon as well with Taylor Myers, Martin Bailey, and Colter Elkin running in the race. Taylor Myers recorded the best time for Dakota State with a time of 1:12:46, good enough for 13th place out of the 51 runners. Martin Bailey had a time of 1:15:54 (32nd) and Colter Elkin clocked in at 1:17:35 (36th). 

The winner of the Men’s Half-Marathon came from Life University as well, with Christian Colon winning the race after finishing the race at 1:09:06. 

Dakota State scored a total of five points at the NAIA nationals in the men’s outdoor track & field division.

Friday officially concluded the outdoor track & field season for Dakota State, as well wrapping up another successful 2022-23 academic year of DSU Athletics.
