A stout defensive effort propelled Dakota State to a shutout win at Presentation on Saturday night, winning 42-0 in Aberdeen. The Trojans used three “pick sixes” and three Torren Devericks touchdown passes to silence the home squad. Noah Guse had a pair of return touchdowns and Riley Janke returned a tipped pass 90 yards for another defensive score. Overall, DSU forced six turnovers in the game and besides the three returns also scored twice offensively on the first play after a turnover.

Both offenses struggled on the night, Dakota State finished 181 yards and Presentation 137. Jose Sanchez had seven carries for 30 yards, Devericks finished 10 of 22 for 97 yards and his touchdown passes went to Josh Giles and Jacob Hirsch (twice). Cole McCarty led the defense with seven total tackles and Gustavo Bonilla had six.

The win moves DSU to 1-1 on the season, with another road game upcoming this Saturday. Trojans will travel to take on Mayville State and a 2:30 kickoff is expected.
