DSU Football Opens Conference Play With 40-13 Win Against Presentation.

The Sixth Ag Bowl was won by Dakota State 40-13. The Trojans defeated the Presentation College Saints in the North Star Athletic Association opener at Trojan Field. All aspects of the game helped in the win. It started with the defense, coming up with a forced fumble and three interceptions, including Gustavo Bonilla’s 65-yard pick-six. Jay Skogerboe and Max Sonne had the other two picks. Zach Brooks led the offense by tossing two touchdown passes, one to Derick Siemonsma and one to Austin Lake. Michael Hybertson led the receiving core with five receptions for 69 yards. Brenner Furlong got some garbage time touches in the backfield and ended the game with 10 rushes for 73 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown. In special teams, Caleb Nielsen set a new single-game record of 59.3 yards per punt. He had 356 yards on six punts, three of those pinned the Saints back inside their own 20-yard line. The Trojans look to continue the momentum for game #2 in NSAA play next week for a homecoming matchup against Mayville State.
