Dakota State Football fell flat in the second half versus Waldorf University on Saturday, falling 20-14 on Homecoming 2020. It was a defensive-minded first half, neither side scored in the first quarter. The visiting Warriors scored on a short field goal early in the second quarter and the Trojans answered with a touchdown scoring drive, cashing in on a fourth down touchdown pass from Torren Devericks to Josh Giles. That would be the scoring in the first half, as DSU led 7-3 at the break.

DSU’s defense created a turnover early in the third quarter and the offense scored on a 20-yard TD pass from Devericks to Cole Seigfried. Unfortunately, Waldorf would swing the momentum to their side for the last 20 minutes of the contest, scoring 17 unanswered points to pick up the win.

The Trojans were quiet on the offensive side of the ball, compiling just 161 total yards (122 passing). Brenner Furlong had 32 yards on the ground, Giles caught a pair of passes for 38 yards and Marcus Vanden Bosch had 2 sacks with 11 total tackles. DSU will be on the round this upcoming Saturday, facing off against Dickinson State in North Dakota.
