Trojans Fall Camp Has Initiated

Fall camp for football is underway for the Dakota State football team, and the feeling around the team right now is pretty high.

Trojan’s Head Coach Josh Anderson is overall pleased with where his team is right now in the early stages of camp, and understands there will be some ups and downs before week one.

In the trenches, there are four veterans returning on both sides of the ball on the offensive and defensive lines. One of those returning players on the defensive line, Cody Brown, says that to keep getting better as a defense, after fielding a good unit last year, they just have to keep growing in practice and continuing to work hard.

The defense is a young one, but Brown mentions the leadership on the team and how that can help the defense grow this season.

On the offensive side of the ball, Wide Receiver Cooper McDermott is hoping to see improvement not just on the offense, but also in the win-loss column, specifically with regards to the Trojans’ road record.

Elsewhere on the offense, one of the key position battles to watch these next couple weeks might be the running back position, where Coach Anderson mentions how difficult it will be to sort out.

The Trojans will have a scrimmage at Mount Marty University next Wednesday, August 17, where Anderson would like to have more clarity on his position battles before the first game in the Ag Bowl on Thursday, August 25th against rival Dakota Wesleyan.
