DSU Cross Country Teams Running in NSAA Championships Today

Both Dakota State cross-country teams are getting ready for the 2022 NSAA Championships today.  Dickinson State is this year’s host for the conference meet at Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson, ND.

The North Star cross country members include Bellevue, Dakota State, Dickinson State, Valley City State, Viterbo, and Waldorf.

Dakota State is seeking to repeat the North Star men’s cross country title for the fifth consecutive year. It is the first time in Trojan men’s cross country program history to win fourth straight conference titles, as well as in the North Star conference.  Dickinson State edged Viterbo to win the women’s conference title last season.

Top ten runners to finish in the conference meet will be listed on the NSAA Cross Country All-Conference team for both men’s and women’s, receiving the All-Conference medal. A team championship plaque will be presented to both men’s and women’s team champions.

The team winner in both men’s and women’s will receive the league’s automatic bid to the national meet in Tallahassee, Florida, on November 18th.

The winner of each race will also get automatic bids to the national meet, while the top four individual runners from the non-winning team at the conference meet will qualify for the national meet as an individual.

The Trojans last competed in the final regular-season meet of the season on October 22nd in the 29th annual Mount Marty Invitational, where they finished eighth as a team in the women’s race and the men’s team placed fourth out of 12 teams in the race.

The men’s 8K race begins at 12pm today, followed by the women’s 5K race at 1pm.
