Dakota State Basketball hosted a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday night at the DSU Fieldhouse. The Women ran their win streak to six-games, defeating Briar Cliff 82-76. Meanwhile, the Men came up just short versus rival Dakota Wesleyan 69-60.

The Lady T’s found themselves in a tight battle throughout all four quarters, only to pull away late from the visiting Chargers. DSU held Briar Cliff to just one basket over the final three minutes of the game, ending a 13 game losing streak to said opponent. Morgan Koepsell shot a sizzling 12 for 13 to lead DSU with 28 points. While the visitors made more free throws than DSU attempted, the Lady T’s shot 56% in the game. They improved their record to 10-3 on the season and finished December 4-0.

In the game that was originally scheduled for last night, the Trojans could not hold halftime momentum against 18th ranked Dakota Wesleyan, as the visiting Tigers outscored DSU 37-19 in the second half for the win. DWU used a 24-4 scoring outburst over a ten minutes stretch in the second half to gain control of the lead. Not enough time was left for DSU to make a comeback. The Trojans had four players score in double-digits. Jordan Lynn once again put together a solid all-around game, finishing with 11 points and nine rebounds with six assists.

DSU Men fell to 2-5 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday, hosting Peru State in more non-conference play.
