The DSU Women’s Basketball team made it nine straight wins last night, thumping Dickinson State 101-60 at the DSU Fieldhouse. The Lady T’s never trailed in the game, jumping out to a 27-10 lead after one and held a commanding 56-31 lead at intermission. The lead would grow to as much as 42 points in the second half. Five players scored in double-digits for Dakota State, led by Jessi Giles’s 25 points. Savannah Walsdorf had 17 points, 5 steals and 5 rebounds in the contest.

It is the first time since the 1983-84 season that the Lady T’s have won nine straight and they have scored 80 or more points in eight of the nine wins. They improved their record to 15-12 overall on the year and 9-3 in NSAA play.

A hot shooting Dickinson State Men’s team was too much for the Trojans to overcome, as the visitors came away with a 95-62 victory in the second game of the evening. It was a fairly tight affair throughout the first 13 minutes of the contest, before the Blue Hawks surged ahead and led 45-34 at the break. Dickinson State steadily pulled away in the second half, avenging a loss to DSU from earlier in the season.

The Blue Hawks shot 57% from the floor in the game, compared to 40% for Dakota State and out-rebounded the hosts 42-25. Three Trojans scored in double digits, led by Josh McGreal who had 18, Gare Ewefada finished with 15 and Brady Van Holland had 13 points with seven rebounds and four assists.
