Dakota State Baseball split their pair of games to open up the Tucson Invite on Monday, while the Lady T’s Softball squad won their first two games of the season.

Trojan Baseball saw themselves fall behind 2-0 in the first game versus Dordt before rallying with seven unanswered runs to win 7-2. Ryan Jackovich had two hits and drove in two runs for the Trojans and Devin DeBoer went the distance on the mound for his third win of the season. Six errors in game two was the downfall for DSU as the Defenders earned a 6-2 win and a split. Dakota State Baseball stands at 6-6 on the year and will have a single game versus Morningside today.

After starting the season 0-8, DSU Softball picked up a pair of wins on Monday in Arizona. Game one saw the Lady T’s rally for a 4-3 win over Embry-Riddle. Elisabeth Whitesides had the go-ahead RBI triple in the sixth inning for Dakota State. The night-cap saw DSU fall behind 2-0 after an inning and a half, but a run in the bottom of the second and two more in both the third and fourth innings vaulted them to a 7-2 win over Doane. 14 hits in the second game propelled the Lady T’s offense, as they improved to 2-8 on the season. They have another pair of games today, versus #14 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) and St. Francis (Ill.).
