Dakota State Volleyball Loses Thriller to Rival

Dakota State volleyball kicked off their six-match road stretch Tuesday evening, dropping a hard-fought battle with rival Dakota Wesleyan in a five-set thriller.

The Trojans came out and won the first set 25-20 before losing the next two by scores of 25-23 and 25-19. Needing to win the fourth to stay alive in the match, DSU did just that by getting the 25-17 win in the fourth set, sending the match into a fifth.

In the fifth and final set, DWU got the edge over DSU getting the set win 15-11, to give the Tigers the 3-2 match win over the Trojans.

The two teams will see each other again for the second meeting of the season on Oct. 12 at DSU Fieldhouse.

The loss dropped the Trojans overall record to 11-9 on the year, and also ended their four-match winning streak. Dakota State will stay on the road tomorrow as they resume their NSAA action when they visit Valley City State.
