Dakota State to Induct Seven into Athletics Hall of Fame

Dakota State University will induct seven individuals into the Athletics Hall of Fame during Trojan Days homecoming weekend.  The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on Friday evening at Beacom PREMIER Complex in the new athletics building, located in the Heartland Captain’s Club on the second floor.  

The Class of 2024 includes:

Michelle Daniels,  was an all-conference four-years in track and field from 1994 through 1997.  

Brent Dowling was a four-time All-Conference track & field athlete at Dakota State from 1992 through 1995.  

Brad Gilbert was the long-tenured athletic trainer at Dakota State. He was awarded the North Star Athletic Association Athletic Trainer of the Year ward in 2017 for his 20-plus years as an athletic trainer.

Tommy Hofer was one of the most prolific wide receivers in DSU’s football history.  He was a three-time All-Conference recipient, and was named NAIA Football All-America Honorable Mention in 2003 and 2004. 

Mike Katen and Jeff Rensch both were named NAIA Football All-America Honorable Mention in 1991. 

Andy Kim Nelson is the winningest coach in South Dakota football history with a record of 314-154.

The DSU Athletics Hall of Fame banquet is tentatively set for 6:30 pm this Friday.
