For the second Friday in-a-row, the Dakota State Basketball teams swept their opponent to begin the weekend. Last night, Presentation College fell victim. The DSU Women rode the hot-hand of Jessi Giles on their way to a 95-69 win, while the Men put together a strong second half to win 83-71.

Giles shot 15 for 22 from the field and 7 of 9 from downtown, on her way to 39 points. It is the second most points scored in a game in DSU Women’s history. The Trojans led 53-42 at half time, thanks to a 33 point second quarter. They would come out hot in the third, scoring the first 11 points and pushed the lead to over 20. Eventually the host Saints would crawl back into the contest, outscoring the Trojans 19-16 in the third. Just like their first match-up on the season, DSU dominated the fourth quarter (26-8) on their way to the win.

It was the seventh straight win, improving DSU Women’s record to 13-12 on the season and 7-3 in NSAA play.

The Men found themselves down by three points at half time, 43-40, before using a 9-0 run to start the second half. The Saints answered with a 5-0 run to pull within a single point. Over the next few mintues, the two sides would trade buckets back and forth, with two ties at 57’s and 59’s. Dakota State would control the rest of the game, building their advantage to double-digits on their way to the victory.

Five players scored in double-digits for Dakota State, Josh McGreal and Carson Rentz each posted 18 points to lead the way. Trojan Men moved their record to 8-17 on the season and 4-6 in NSAA play.
