Dakota State Football Turned Away By Dickinson State

For the second time in the season, the Blue Hawks of Dickinson State were able to defeat Dakota State on the football field, winning 23-3 on Saturday afternoon in Dickinson. The Blue Hawks kicked a field goal on their first possession of the game and never trailed in the contest. They would build a 13-0 lead at halftime, Dakota State moved the ball inside the 10 yard line late in the first half but were unable to score.
The visiting Trojans finally got on the board in the third quarter, getting a 40-yard field goal from Caleb Nielsen to pull within 13-3. It was the first made field goal of Nielsen’s career, who also booted a school record 82-yard punt. Dakota State would get within striking distance of the end zone a couple of times in the second half but came up empty on touchdowns.
Dickinson State recorded 352 total offensive yards compared to Dakota State 236 total offensive yards. Torren Devericks was 21-of-45 for 157 yards for Dakota State. Dajshon Keel had eight receptions for 79 yards. Jacob Hirsch added seven catches for 41 yards. Marcus Vanden Bosch paced the Trojans defense with 12 tackles, a quarterback sack and two tackles-for-loss of 12 yards. Devonte Murphy added nine tackles, a sack and a tackle-for-loss of seven yards. Gustavo Bonilla and Cole McCarty each tallied seven tackles.
The Trojans fell to 1-3 on the season and will return home to begin a three-game homestand this Saturday.
