Dakota State Drops Second Straight on the Road

Dakota State jumped to a 10-0 lead Saturday late afternoon, but the Waldorf Warriors scored 35 unanswered points, prevailing to a 42-17 victory over the Trojans to stay undefeated this season.

The Trojans forced a punt on the first drive of the game that was blocked, setting them up to score the first points of the game. Then later in the quarter, Noah Karwacki hit a field goal from 49 yards to give them the 10-0 lead.

However, for a second straight game the Trojans fell apart in the second quarter, giving up three touchdowns and going into halftime down 21-10.

Waldorf scored three more touchdowns in the second half, and DSU was only able to add more to the scoreboard going on to lose 42-17.

For the first game this season, the Trojans didn’t give up a 100 yard rusher, however, they did two allow receivers to go over 100 yards receiving with Malik Adams catching six passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns and Sam Huntley catching 10 for 129 yards and two scores as well.

Waldorf QB Jordan Cooper was 22-30 passing with 362 yards, 4 TDs and 0INTs. On the other side for DSU, Zach Brooks only went 9-21 for 75 yards and 3 INTS with no touchdowns. Warriors DB Tyler Dennis was responsible for catching two of Brooks interceptions.

Both of the Trojans touchdowns came on the ground from Tyce Ortman, who added 51 yards rushing.

The loss dropped the Trojans to a 1-2 record, with both losses coming on the road. They will return home next week when they host Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday, September 24th for the Trojans homecoming game. Â
