It was opening weekend for Dakota State Baseball this past weekend, as the Trojans traveled to Salina, Kanasas to face off versus Kansas Wesleyan. Unfortunately, they dropped all three contests to the Coyotes.

Saturday was a doubleheader with KW taking game one 5-1 and game two 7-5. Jace Priybl drove in the lone run in the first contest and Devin DeBoer took the loss on the mound, going four and a third innings. In game two, DSU rallied from being down 7-1 but couldn’t even things up. Priybl, Mason Macaluso and Mike Vohnoutka each tallied two hits for the Trojans, Jeremy Lopes took the loss on the mound.

The final game of the weekend on Sunday saw Kansas Wesleyan score 10 runs in the first three innings, on their way to a 13-2 win. Esai Hernandez smacked a home run for DSU, driving in both runs.

Dakota State Baseball will return to action this weekend, traveling once again to Kansas – taking on Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.Â
