7 DSU Women Runners Hit Personal Records

Seven Dakota State runners set personal records in the regular-season indoor track & field finale Saturday. DSU also produced the second fastest time in school history in the final event of the day, the 4×400-meter relay.

Fane Sauvakacolo clocked a time of 26.14 seconds in the 200-meter dash for the Trojans, winning the ninth heat. Her time is a personal record time, as well as the fourth fastest time in DSU women’s indoor track & field school history.

All three DSU runners produced personal records in the 400-meter dash, paced by Shaylee DeBeer with a time of 1 minute, .71 seconds. Her time is the seventh fastest in school history. Raylee Wallis added a time of 1:01.12 in the race, the 10th fastest time in the school record book. Shakiera Gronenthal added a time of 1 minute, 11.63 seconds.

Sauvakacolo led the Trojans with a time of 9.22 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. DeBeer clocked a personal best time of 9.83 seconds in the race.

Lindsey Roth registered a time of 1 minute, 46.60 seconds in the 600-meter run. Saddie Palmquist recorded a personal best of 1:50.46. 

Madelyn Sylva posted a time of 2 minutes, 36.53 seconds in the 800-meter run for Dakota State. Courtney Meyer produced a personal best time of 2:54.09.

Roth led the 1-mile run race with a time of 5 minutes, 27.40 seconds. Sylva hit a personal record time of 5:48.68, followed by Meyer with another personal best time of 6:28.02.

Lahna Matucha cleared the high jump of 4 feet, 9 inches for the Trojans.

The meet wrapped up with a pair of relay teams in the 4×400-meter race. The team of Sauvakacolo, DeBeer, Roth, and Wallis produced the second fastest time in school history with a time of 4 minutes, 8.60 seconds. 

Palmquist, Sylva, Gronenthal, and Brooke Beaucaire added a time of 4 minutes, 48.07 seconds in the race.

Dakota State returns to SJAC (Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex) for the second straight week on Sunday, February 19th, competing in the NSAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The conference indoor track & field meet is slated to start at 9am.
