6 Trojan turnovers lead to 38-21 loss to Dickinson State
Dakota State couldn’t recover from six turnovers on Saturday, as the Trojans fell to the Dickinson State Blue Hawks 38-21. Dakota State lost despite out gaining Dickinson 337-329 in total offensive yards
The Trojans turned the ball over twice in the first quarter, including a pick six by Jayden Heartwell, that put the Blue Hawks up 17-7. AJ Donovan threw a pair of first half TD’s for Dakota State as well, and the Trojans trailed 24-14 at halftime.Â
The Blue Hawks added a touchdown in the third quarter to take a three score lead. The Trojans scored early in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to ten points, but also committed three turnovers in the quarter on their way to the loss.Â
Donovan finished 28 of 49 passing for 272 yards, with 2 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Tyce Ortmas ran the ball 17 times for 58 yards and a score. Melek Ford caught five passes for 98 yards and a TD.
Dakota State fell to 4-2 overall, while the Blue Hawks are now 5-1. Dickinson State also extended their conference winning streak to 37 games. The Trojans will travel to Jamestown this Saturday.
