Dakota State received 2 first-place votes in the 2015 North Star Athletic Association Men’s Cross Country Coaches’ Preseason Poll, the conference office announced Monday. The Trojans was predicted to finish 3rd in the conference. Dickinson State is the preseason favorite to win the NSAA conference title. The Blue Hawks had 3 first-place votes and scored 22 points in the poll. Viterbo edged The Trojans19-18 to finish 2nd in the poll. DSU won their 1st ever NSAA Men’s Cross Country Conference title last season. Jamestown, Waldorf and Valley City State rounded out the men’s preseason poll.
In the women’s poll DSU was picked to finish 4th. Jamestown earned 5 first-place votes and scored 25 points to claim the top spot .Viterbo picked up the final first-place vote. The V-Hawks and Dickinson State each had 19 points in the poll, finishing in a tie for 2nd place. The Trojans recorded 12 points in the poll. Valley City State was picked to finish 5th, scoring 10 points in the poll. Waldorf was 6th with 5 points.
The Trojans kick off their 2015 season on September 4th as they run in the Augustana Twilight meet in Sioux Falls. Dakota State will be hosting 2 home meets this season at the Madison Country Club, the Herb Blakely Invitational on September 12th and the NSAA conference meet on November 7th.
