Dakota State University Athletics had a busy weekend with Indoor Track & Field at the SDSU Classic in Brookings, and the Baseball and Softball teams opening their 2019 campaigns.
Joshua Snook qualified for the NAIA National Indoor meet in the men’s 400 meter run on Saturday for the Trojans. He clocked a new school record time of 49.04 seconds to finish 9th in the race. Braden Curnow also broke the school record in the men’s 3,000 with a time of 14 minutes, 49.38 seconds. The Trojans Indoor Track & Field teams head back to Brookings for the NSAA Conference Championships on Saturday in Brookings.
The Trojans Baseball team was swept in their 4-game series against Kansas Wesleyan in Topeka, Kansas. DSU fell on Saturday 15-6 and 7-1, before falling on Sunday 20-2 in 5 innings and 11-3.
Dakota State Softball team won their season opener 9-2 over Dakota Wesleyan at the Presentation College Dome Tournament in Aberdeen on Sunday. The Trojans then fell to #25 ranked Valley City State 13-4 and then fell to #24 Jamestown 6-4.
