Canova VFW team moves on to State

The Canova Gang 14U VFW team kept their season alive on Tuesday, advancing to the Class B State tournament with a 13-1 win over Scotland in the Southeast Region Tournament. After opening the tournament over the weekend with a pair of wins, Canova lost on Monday to Garretson, setting up Tuesday’s eliminations game.

Taking on Scotland for the second time in the tournament, Canova pounded out 14 total hits. Karsyn Feldhaus, Jackson Remmers, Jack Neises, and Ryder Erickson all had multi-hit games with 2 RBI. Neises threw 6 innings for the win, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits, with 5 strikeouts.

That win put Canova into the State Tournament, and gave them another chance to take on Garretson for the Region Championship. Garretson however jumped out to a quick lead, on their way to a 6-2 win. Jace Bolden had 3 hits for Canova. Ryder Erickson took the loss, despite allowing just 1 earned run.

The Canova Gang 14U team will play in the Class B State VFW Tournament, starting July 19th, in Elkton.
