West Central Gets Wins Against Tri-Valley

Last night West Central hosted Tri-Valley in a double header, and both Trojans teams took down the Mustangs.

Starting with the girls game, Tri-Valley had the early advantage, leading 30-25 at halftime before extending their lead to 38-27 before the Trojans mounted a comeback with an 11-0 run to tie the game at 38-38. 

With the game tied at 44-44, West Central went on a 9-2 run to win the game 53-46 at home. 

The win gave West Central their fifth of the season, as they improved to 5-7 while Tri-Valley dropped to 5-9.

Molli Thornton had 15 points and two rebounds for Tri-Valley. Cambell Fischer finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Molly Anderson added nine points and three steals.

The boys game was similar to the girls, with Tri-Valley leading at halftime, up 18-16, before West Central stole the win away from the Mustangs. 

The Trojans used an early run in the third quarter to take a 39-33 lead into the fourth. Tri-Valley did get within one at 40-39 early in the final quarter, but only managed to score six more points the rest of the game against West Central as the Trojans held on to win 55-45. 

West Central improves to 7-6 with the win, getting their third straight, while Tri-Valley has lost back-to-back to fall to 3-8. 

Brodie Herrl led the Trojans with 16 points and 4 rebounds, followed by Carter Schmeichel who scored 13 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and had 3 assists.

Noah Haynes, Tri-Valley, had a game leading 20 points, along with three rebounds, and two steals. Trey Johnson finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and a blocked shot. 

Both West Central teams will play again tonight when they return home to host Tea Area in another double header. Girls will start at 6:30pm, with the boys to play directly after. Tri-Valley, meanwhile, will also be hosting a double-header tonight against Dell Rapids, with the girls starting at 6:45pm and boys playing after.Â
