Two Exciting Match-ups Sunday In Cornbelt League Play
In a battle for Dell Rapids on Sunday night in Cornbelt League baseball, the Mudcats rallied from a 3-0 deficit to win 4-3. Wes Hansen hit a two-run homerun in the first inning for PBR, who also added a run in the second. The Mudcats began their move, scoring an unearned run in the top of the fourth and then would take the one-run advantage in the sixth. Mark Abrahamson had a two run double to highlight the three run sixth inning.
Strong pitching from both sides added to the excitement of the battle for Dells. PBR had the game tying run on base in the bottom of the ninth, but was unable to score.
In the only other Cornbelt game from Sunday, it was the Wood Ducks of Hartford/Humboldt slipped by the Gang in Canova, 3-2. The visitors scored all three of their runs in the second inning. Jake Ellens had a bases clearing double for the Wood Ducks. Canova got RBIs from Justin Miller and Tyler Genzlinger. Both starting pitchers in the game went the distance, Drew Eldeen for Hartford/Humboldt and Jared Miller for Canova.
Our next game on KJAM radio will be Tuesday night – as Salem hosts the Gamecocks of Hartford/Humboldt.
