The Chester Flyers Finish Second and Third in Region 4B Track & Field Meet

The Chester Track & Field team competed in the Region 4B Track & Field Meet at Flyer Field yesterday. The Flyers broke nine personal records, one meet record, and one school record. 

The girls totaled  82 points, good enough for third place behind champion Colman-Egan and runner-up Dell Rapids Saint Mary’s. Lexi Siemonsma had the lone first place finish for the girls in shot put, throwing 34’01.” Emmerson Eppard placed second in the 1600-meter run at 5:47.09 and Sydnie Shoenrock also finished second in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.67. Eppard, along with Emery Larson, Addison Bates, and Kaitlyn Swenson, crossed the 4 x 800-meter relay in second at 10:31.33.

The boys team finished in second to Region champion Hanson. The team saw Alex Van Egdom, Ryan Benson, Stratton Eppard, and Jovi Wolf break the region record and new school record in the 4 x 100-meter relay. Wolf also finished first in the 100-meter dash at 11.06, the 200-meter dash at 22.50, and long jump at 19’11.50.” Ryan Benson had three first place finishes as well. Next weekend, the Flyers will be at the State Track & Field Meet in Rapid City.
