State Wrestling Recap
Madison Bulldog Colby Mennis led area wrestlers with a second place finish this past weekend at the 2020 State Wrestling Tournament. Making his way to the finals in the Class A 160 pound weight class, Mennis picked up wins via fall in the first round and quarterfinals, then in semifinals he fell behind 7-0 after the first period before going to work and finishing with a 20-7 win. Matching up against undefeated Cooper Voorhees of Rapid City Stevens in the championship match, Mennis fell 11-3 in a Major Decision. Mennis ended his Senior campaign with a 41-5 record. Other Madison placers included: Truman Stroller 4th at 113 and Sam Olson 3rd at 120.
McCook Central/Montrose had six placers: Weston Remmers was 6th at 113, Jackson Remmers 4th at 126, Jacob Cheeseman 6th at 160, Blake Gessner 4th at 170, Jacobi Krouse 5th at 182, Cade Entwistle 7th at 195 and Colin Reif 5th at 285
Howard had five placers: Riley Genzlinger was 7th at 126, Kieffer Klinkhammer 4th at 132, Lane Miller 3rd at 132, John Callies 6th at 152 and Issac Feldhaus 6th at 182.
