SDHSAA Task Force Meeting

The South Dakota High School Activities Association task force met last Thursday to continue discussing the handling of the upcoming Fall sports season and beyond. The Task Force has called upon Sanford Health to be active in the talks, offering medical opinions on the matters. While nothing formally has been passed, many feel that the Activities Association is taking the right steps.

Outside of actually having sports, the task force is also discussing what to do about attendance and the ability to test people coming into events. Masks could be mandatory for spectators. Health officials do not believe that COVID-19 can be spread on the surfaces of athletic equipment, such as volleyballs and tennis balls. Discussions will continue and hopefully a little more clarity with decisions will be made in the next week or two.
