SDHSAA Passes Motion on Softball as High School Varsity Sport

The South Dakota High School Activities Association motioned Wednesday that softball will be sanctioned as a high school varsity sport. The motion was passed 8-1 by the SDHSAA’s Board of Directors, with softball becoming a high school sport starting during the 2022-23 school year. There were no commitments from any schools and whether the sport will be played in the fall or spring, but the discussion will be continue in the January board meeting.
