SDHSAA Board Holding Special Meeting On Friday

The South Dakota High School Activities Association has called a special meeting Friday to discuss potential changes to the 2020 football playoffs. The addition of an “alternate” team in all seven classes and the opportunity for non-playoff teams to schedule an additional game during Week 9 (which is October 22nd through the 24th).
In the event a team cannot participate in the first round of the playoffs, the alternate team would replace the team that could not play. Seeding would not be readjusted, but rather teams “slide up.” If the team unable to play was set to host a first-round game, the home-away would be flipped so the higher seed is hosting.
