Salem Cubs Win in a Blowout Against the Humboldt-Hartford Wood Ducks

In a game that was not really close, the Salem Cubs were able to get the blowout win over the Humboldt-Hartford Wood Ducks. 

The Wood Ducks got the first two runs of the matchup to start the game in the top of the first, but they wouldn’t score again until the sixth. Meanwhile the Salem Cubs got eight runs before the sixth inning.

Runs started piling on the scoreboard for the Cubs with their first run in the bottom of the third, followed by four runs in the fourth inning. Three more runs came for the Cubs in the fifth. 

Wood Ducks were able to get a run in the sixth, but the damage had already been done. Both teams got a few more runs in the eight inning, ending the game with a final score of 12-5. The Cubs only had one more hit than the Wood Ducks though, getting 11 hits to the Wood Ducks 10. 

Cole Cheeseman,  Tyler Cleveland, Landon Neugebauer, and Brian Duxbury each had two hits for the Cubs in the matchup, with Duxbury leading the way with three runs, followed by Steve Mehlbrech, Issac Anderson, and  Cheeseman with two runs. Bobby Koepsell, Neugebauer, and Cleveland brought in runs for the Cubs as well. 

Neugebauer, Cleveland, and Anderson also each had two RBI’s for the Cubs while Kyle Tuschen and Duxbury had an RBI a piece as well. 

Leading the way for the Wood Ducks was JJ Jesson, getting two runs on two hits along with an RBI. The other runs for the Wood Ducks were scored by A King, Ryan Healy, and Logan Colwill.Colwill and Healy also each had an RBI. Kaydn Nolz also had two hits, bringing in two runners.  

The Wood Ducks will host the Flandreau Cardinals this Sunday, while the Cubs host the Humboldt-Hartford Gamecocks. That game can be heard at 2pm on Sunday on Dakota’s Best 1390 AM.
