Salem Cubs Walk Off Larchwood, Advance At State Am

8/13/20 –

It was a thriller of a game at Cadwell Park last night, as the Salem Cubs rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat Larchwood 5-4. Salem tied the game at 2 a piece in the bottom of the fourth inning, getting a two run single from Landon Neugebauer. Larchwood then reclaimed the lead with runs in the fifth and sixth innings. In the ninth inning, Salem loaded the bases with nobody out and tied the game on back to back walks. After a ground-out, that set the stage for Brian Duxbury, who lined a single to left field for the game winning hit.

Salem managed just five hits in the game and was able to overcome five errors. Luke Loudenburg started the game on the mound, David Kirby came in in relief, Tyler Earls pitched the ninth and picked up the win. Salem will now play in the quarter finals Friday night versus Wynot, who was a 6-0 over Clark in the second game on Wednesday night.

Tonight, Dell Rapids Mudcats return to action, taking on the defending champions in Alexandria. The two sides will clash in the early contest, first pitch is at 5:30pm and you can hear the action on AM1390.
