Salem Cubs Hand Dell Rapids Mudcats Their Fifth Straight Loss

Dell Rapids Mudcats losing streak continues as they drop their fifth straight game, this time to the Salem Cubs. Mudcats have now lost five of their last six, with their game last weekend being postponed. Meanwhile, the Cubs grab their second win of the season.

The first run of the game was scored by the Mudcats in the bottom of the first, but after that it was a quiet game on the scoreboard for the next five innings. The Cubs were then able to get two runs in the top of the seventh, and once they grabbed their lead they did not let go.

Three more runs would come in for the Cubs at the top of the eighth and then one more run to follow in the ninth, scoring a total of six runs in the last three innings. The Mudcats got one more run in the bottom of the eighth.

Hitting was definitely an issue for the Mudcats, who only had three hits compared to the Cubs’ eight. Kyle Tuschen led the Cubs in hitting with three hits, followed by Peyton Cleveland with two.

Mark Abrahamson, although was the losing pitcher, still led the game with nine strikeouts in seven innings. The winning pitcher for the Cubs, Issac Anderson, notched eight strikeouts after pitching eight innings.

Dell Rapids will hope to end their losing streak in Madison on Thursday, June 16, while Salem hopes to add another win against a team from Dell Rapids when they travel to play Dell Rapids PBR. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 7:30pm.Â
