The VFW 16U Class B Tournament continued on Saturday in Canova. Both Salem and Canova had picked up quarterfinal wins on Friday. Salem took on Gregory in the first semi-final and came away with an 11 to 6 win. Trevor Hansen, Braeden Kerkhoven and Gavin Gordon all drove in two runs. Avery Feterl went four for four and scored three times. Canova fell in a pitchers duel to Tyndall 2 to 1. The Gang had six hits but left 13 men on base. Both Kieffer Klinkhammer and Jack Neises had two hits for Canova, Neises pitched a complete game but took the loss for Canova.

On Sunday, Canova rebounded in the third place game with a come from behind 13-5 win over Gregory. Trailing by a run heading into the top of the sixth inning, the Gang scored six runs and then added four more in the seventh. Jackson Remmers collected three hits and scored three times, Klinkhammer drove in three and scored three times, plus Lane Miller scored three times as well.

And in the Championship game, Salem fell just short in a 5-4 loss to Tyndall. Salem led by two runs after three innings of play, but Tyndall scored the final three runs of the contest, including the game winner in the top of the seventh inning. Avery Feterl had three hits and Braeden Kerkhoven drove in a pair. Salem had the tying run on second in the bottom of the seventh inning after a walk and a sacrifice bunt, but a groundout and strike-out ended the contest.
