Madison/Area Wrestling

The Madison Wrestling team placed third at the Class A Region One wrestling meet on Saturday, scoring 150.5 points. Watertown was the top scoring team with 239.5 points and Dell Rapids was second with 174 points. 

The Bulldogs claimed two titles and will send seven individuals to the State Meet. Truman Stoller captured the title at 113 and Colby Mennis was champion at 160. Sam Olson was second at 120, Issac Henry was third at 106, Blake Johnson fourth at 126, AJ Peter fourth at 145 and Thomas Seppela fourth at 195. Dell Rapids captured one title and will be sending eight individuals to State. 

McCook Central/Montrose placed second as a team at the Class B Region 2 meet, with 209.5 points. Howard was fifth with 135 points, Tri-Valley was sixth, Flandreau seventh and Chester Area was 11th. MCM captured two titles and will be sending 10 individuals to State, Howard will have six representatives, Tri-Valley four, Flandreau two and Chester Area one. 

Kingsbury County came in second at the Class B Region 1 meet, totaling 175.5 points and Sioux Valley placed eighth. Kingsbury captured one title and will be sending seven individuals to the State Meet. Sioux Valley will have four heading to Sioux Falls.

State individual and dual meets will be this Thursday through Saturday at the Sanford Premier Center.
