The Howard Tigers used a stifling defense to advance in the 9A playoffs on Thursday night, defeating De Smet 20-0. In a game that was heard on FM103, Howard came up with their fourth shutout of the season and second against the Bulldogs (39-0 the first time). Lane Miller paced the Tigers with 96 rushing yards on seven carries and scored one touchdown. Riley Genzlinger finished with 74 rushing yards on 16 carries, while John Callies scored a pair of rushing touchdowns. Howard moves onto the quarterfinals next Thursday and awaits their seeding/opponent.
