Howard Girls Fall in Class B Quarterfinals

In the Class B State Quarterfinals last night, the Howard Girls basketball team fell to Viborg-Hurley by a final score of 64-46.

Howard kept it close in the opening quarter, trailing only by one before Viborg-Hurley started to take control of the game. Once the Cougars grabbed the lead from the Tigers in the first quarter, they never let it go the rest of the way.

The Cougars led 31-22 at halftime, and they continued to outscore the Tigers throughout the second half, with 17 points in the third quarter while only allowing 11 and 16 more to close out the game in the fourth quarter for a 64-46 final.

Abby Aslesen had a double-double for the Tigers with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Trinity Palmquist added 13 points, three rebounds, and two steals. 

Denae Mach had a game-leading 25 points for the Cougars to go with her five rebounds. Estelle Lee added 19 points, while Coral Mason had nine points and 13 rebounds, along with seven steals. 

Viborg-Hurley moves on to play Ethan at 7:45pm, while Howard falls into the Consolation Bracket, where they will play Castlewood at 1:45pm. The Tigers game can be heard on FM 103.1 or online at AmazingMadison.com.
