Haynes Double-Double Leads Mustangs to Win Over Fighting Cougars

Last night the Tri-Valley Mustangs traveled to take on the McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars, who lost at home 52-41.

The Mustangs got out to the fast start, scoring the first seven points of the game before MCM hit two free throws. After taking a 13-4 lead into the second quarter, the Mustangs continued to build on their lead before halftime, finishing the half on a 8-1 run to lead 28-11 at halftime.

The Fighting Cougars attempted to come back in the second half, but got no closer than eight points despite going on a 12-4 run to start the third quarter and putting up 30 points in the half. 

Tri-Valley went on to win 52-41 against MCM, handing the Fighting Cougars their fourth straight loss as they fell to 9-9. With the win, the Mustangs grabbed their fifth of the season to improve to 5-12. 

Noah Haynes led the game for Tri-Valley with a double-double, scoring 22 points and grabbing ten rebounds. Trey Johnson added 12 points and six rebounds for the Mustangs.

Leading the way for MCM was Owen Alley with 13 points and four rebounds, followed by Mason Sabers nine points.

Next for both teams, MCM will stay at home this weekend when they host West Central on Saturday at 3:15pm. Meanwhile, Tri-Valley will stay on the road with a trip to Baltic next Monday at 7:30pm.
