The 2019-2020 Gatorade Basketball Players-Of-The-Year for South Dakota have been announced. The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field.

Matthew Mors, of Yankton, was recognized for the second straight year on the boys side. Mors, already the Class AA all-time leading scorer, averaged 19.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds during the season. He joined White River’s Louie Krogman as the only two-time winners in the award’s 41-year history.

Emma Ronsiek, from O’Gorman, was chosen as the Girls Gatorade POTY. She guided the Knights to a 21-0 record and averaged 16.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds. The Senior is O’Gormans all-time leading scorer.Â
